Xiaorong Gu

Professor Gu is a former Director, Senior Researcher and Professor of the Institute of Law at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. He is also a Deputy Director of Shanghai Law Society, Doctoral Candidates Supervisor in China People’s University, Deputy Director of Shanghai Financial Law Society, Director of China Law Society, and Member of International Criminal Law Association, Senior Research Supervisor for Shanghai Highest People’s Court and Arbitrator of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission. His areas of research are Criminal Law, Financial Law, Corporate law and Securities Law.

He has been engaged as research consultant or advising expert in courts, procuratorates, securities administrative institutions, public security institutions and reform-through-labor institutions and often gives courses in financial law and financial crimes to officers of public security organs, procuratorial organs and people’s courts as well as financial institutions. Ever since 1998, he has been engaged by Asian Development Bank as the legal advisor for the Suzhou Creek Rehabilitation Project as well as the legal advisor for the Chinese party in projects involving trust law.
